New Bouquet by JBG

One of my oldest and dearest friends got married this weekend in Chicago and let me tell you, every bit about it was BEAUTIFUL!  It was like something out of a magazine... a Southern Weddings meets Vintage meets Kitchy vibe.  Complete with a bluegrass band, some completely adorable bow ties, and of course... a brooch bouquet.

Sara and I have known each other since about kindergarten...maybe even pre-school... Ahh, the Canterbury days... We grew up skating together - there were 3 of us the same age - Sara, Lindsey, and myself.  Sara was the oldest, Lindsey the middle, and me the baby. Sara's mom started us all in skating as our first coach. She's still one of my favorites to see at the competitions! So this weekend completed the next chapter for us three with Sara getting hitched to the most adorable man and becoming Mrs. Darling.

Apparently last year when I walked down the aisle with mine my friend was a bit upset.  ;)  I had no idea that she'd been planning on doing this for her wedding... Sorry Sar!  Anyways, so she had been collecting brooches to make one for her special day.  Well, that day came this year and who better to help an oldest and dearest friend, but my mother!

Below is the brooch bouquet that was carried in Sara's wedding made by Jewel Be Gorgeous.
She wanted something that was very casual that felt like a bushel of flowers you had hand picked
I think they accomplished that...

Now, let me just say that my camera does not do this cutie justice.
I can't wait to see what the professional photographers do with this!

And needless to say Sara LOVED it and was so excited about it!
I believe her words to me Sunday night were
"How awesome is my bouquet and how awesome is your mom?!?"

I'd say that I have to agree Mrs. Darling...
To both!

More details on the 'Darling' wedding to come this week!

-- Sneak Peek --

A long time ago I gushed over Amanda Heer's lovely brooch bouquet's that she makes at her own Fantasy Florals.  Well, low and behold I told my mom about it and I think she immediately shut me down.  But about a month ago she came to me again and said..."Lets make that brooch bouquet you wanted"
So...here we go.

We've been bidding on ebay (against each other at times)... don't worry we got that one figured out fairly quickly.  We've been etsying and antiquing away and we've made it down to the final bits...

And here's a sneak peak of what it looks like now...

-- Single Mom --

This week I'm playing a single working mom.  It's hard.  Actually, I'm just nannying for a family while their parents are out of town, but I'm still going to be working during the day and then watching them durning the evening and getting them off to school in the mornings before I go to work.

The reason I am posting this is because my posts may be few and far between this week.  We shall see.  Yesterday I had to pick one up from play practice, take 2 to softball practice, and the other was home with pink-eye.  GREAT.  And then 1's softball practice was cancelled due to lightning but the others wasn't until 20 minutes later even though it was lightning the ENTIRE time!!!  Are you kidding me?!  I was wondering if it would have looked bad of me to tell the little girl to not hold the bat!?!  Seriously though!  Smarten up Coach!

Ok...so maybe enjoy some previous posts.  My mom and I are thinking about trying to do a brooch bouquet for me like those from Amanda Heer.  Check them out.  They are gorgeous!  :)

Happy 80s this week!   Love the weather!

-- Sunday Morning Coffee -- 2nd Edition --

Today's inspiration comes to us from the lovely wedding blog Green Wedding Shoes.  I love this site because I came across it one day when I was looking for actual green wedding shoes. Below is a lovely shot from a Vermont Winter Wedding.  I love the photo of the couple...but I especially love the bouquet.

I love the way they've mixed the succulents with the ivory florals, the mixed greenery, and the different berries.  A very sophitocated and breathtaking bouquet.
