Sara's Wedding

I do apologize in advance for the crappy photos.  I think my camera has seen better days... or needs a good maintenance.  Hmmm...

Anywho... this past weekend we went to Sara's Wedding. You remember, the one with the brooch bouquet my mom made?!?

It was my first Jewish/Quaker wedding...
Yes, you read that correctly.
And I loved every minute and detail of it!

It was a circular ceremony - not more than 20-25 minutes.  Once the wedding party had walked in, we all closed the circle around the Hoopa.  Sara and Joe stood up there together looking so dashing and darling and dapper!

How stinking cute are they?!?  I only took a few pictures with the flash as a courtesy to the photographer who was moving all around the circle.  Someone at our wedding ruined quite a few photos by flashing in our photographers pictures so I decided to not ruin their moments.

Look at Sara - Isn't she just too cute!?!
The little hat attached to her veil was her grandmothers from her wedding 57 years ago.
Loved how they incorporated that something old.

After the ceremony, there was Bluegrass entertainment.
Which, I was a little leery of at first, but it was a blast!
We ended up square dancing and just bouncing and tapping our feet all night!

Sara had the sweetest little vignettes placed on each table.  Just something simple and lovely.

Sara & Joe had also made these little cross stitch hangers for the back of their chairs.
They say Mr. & Mrs. Fox.

The bouquets sitting on the wedding party table.

The entry table had pictures of all their family marriages as well as a typewriter, which they used as their guestbook.  Everyone was asked to type a little message to the bride and groom.

Then there was the skating crew being represented of course.
Please don't judge me in this picture.  No clothes are fitting anymore and this one clearly was not flattering!

All in all it was a wonderful night with great friends, entertainment, food, and feel!  The atmosphere was so great!  I heard that the drinks were to die for... like Candy was what I kept hearing.  They served a signature punch in mason jars.  Love.  But it was just another great party!

Thanks to The Darling's for having Mr. K & I.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and wish you all the very best!!!

-- All you need is LOVE --

All you need is Love, right?  I love the Beatles.  I could listen to them non-stop.  Well, in this case, I think all you might need is a little bit of a touch of LOVE.

I am a big fan of this idea.

Monogrammed mugs from Anthropologie each contain a different type of flower here.  I think I might use them in a little different way...not quire sure yet, but I sure do love this idea.

And at only $6 per mug, it's a $24 accent to your wedding that is just simply wonderful.  Plus, you can drink from the mugs until you accidentally break them!  They are forever keepsakes!

-- DIY Painted Vases --

I'm attempting a little DIY this weekend.  I take that back A LOT of DIY this weekend.  I am hoping to be putting together and trimming up my invitations so that all I need to do is print them, but along with that I'm going to be doing a good bit of spray painting.  Yep, you heard me.  I'm busting out my craftiness and channeling my Martha to pull out my best version of some painted vases.

I went to Goodwill last weekend and scarfed up all the white, pewtred, plain glass, yellow, metalic, you name it vases...so long as they had a pattern on it and were less than $1.50 a piece they were mine.  I even got some of them at half off.  You have to love Goodwill for their half off days!  Then I went to Lowes and picked up some Mocha/Chocolate colored spray paint.

Maybe I should back up a little bit.  I was inspired by this DIY setting on Style Me Pretty and I thought, hey...I can do that.  I like the idea of small vases on smaller tables because it can give the illusion of a lot of flowers without there being a lot which = lower cost.  LOVE IT!  Here is what there's turned out like:

So beautiful it's not even fair.

Mine will be chocolate in color and accented with whatever green/chartreusey colored vases, candles, and flowers I can find.  I've also found some really neat bronzy colored accent pieces a few places that I may start ravaging through and adding those in for some sass and extra color.  I think the centerpieces may turn out super sassy and I may be very very proud of what I did
(insert music symbols here) All by myself (insert more music symbols here).

Here's my process for painting the vases!
They still need another coat but here is the process start to finish.  99 cent white glass vases, a little spray paint, and voila!

The best thing about the vases is that you can then give flower to people in them (it's not regifting because you totally crafted it in the first place!), you can use them in your house, you could let people take them home with them and you don't have to care becuase you spen next to nothing on them, and they are simply sassy and gorgeous!

-- Sunday Morning Coffee -- 1st Edition

Good Sunday Morning!

I love Sundays.  I love when I wake up, making my coffee, having Mike's special cheesy-salsa-egg (they are delicious!!!), and watching SNL which I had DVR-ed from the night before.  This is my Sunday morning ritual.  Usually.

Today was much the same.  Although I've been scouring the internet for items to redo my master and guest bedrooms with and watching You've Got Mail. Such a classic, modern love story...before the days of Match.com, Chemistry.com, and whatever other online dating or matching websites there are out there...just chat rooms and email...

Anyways, I think on Sundays I will just try to feature a gorgeous picture, a wonderful photographer, or something that is just all around inspiring.  It could be calligraphy, it could be a wedding, it could be a floral design...basically it could be anything that could inspire something great.  And all Sunday posts will be called Sunday Morning Coffee.  I hope you enjoy.  :)

Today's inspiration is a wedding wish tree.  Here are three beautiful pictures all done a little differently.  They are all from theknot.com.

This wishing tree is more of a whimsical setting.  I do like how these branches drape over towards the front of table.  The table setting is done very simple and colofully, yet has everything you need.

This is my favorite wishing tree setting.  I'm hoping to use a few manzanita branches throughout my centerpieces or decor in general.  I would probably change out the vase, but I love the old wedding pictures.  I am a big fan of nostalga.  I love how the branches kind of have a life of their own as well.

This last tree is really jus a closer version of the last two.  Anyone can make the tags.  I was thinking about using something that we could have family members or the best man or maid of honor send us throughout our first year of marriage - postcards or notecards of somesort.  Or even having people put things on the wish tree that they wish they'd have done.  So that we can put them in a jar and hopefully not miss out on doing them as well.  Just random thoughts that go through my head at times.
I hope everyone enjoys their Sunday.  Thanks for reading.
