DIY Wood Bead Garland @ The City Moms

This weekend I was a progress machine...
And you can only half tell by the current status of my house...
I swear the next time it's all clean I'm going to have someone come take photos for when it's time to sell so I'll just be like "Oh you need house pics, right here...DONE!"

But... I did, along with tons of cleaning, get a few DIY projects done this weekend... A Big Move Over At The City Moms

We recently moved Ella's Room (AGAIN, yes) and today I'm sharing that progress over on The City Moms Blog.

A big deal trying to find a space where she feels comfortable and will SLEEP THROUGH THE NIGHT!  The 4 year old in our bed takes up a bunch of space and also kicks me and lays on me which lessens the amount of sleep I'm getting personally.  Sleep deprived = crazier mom.

So check it out...

12 Days of Christmas :: Craft Workshops

Craft nights are the best.  They are like a release if you ask me!  I swear... I could craft for hours on end and not even realize how much time has passed...

I decided this would be a fun thing to do with Maeve and our new found friends through that business so we hosted our own craft night at the Maeve Warehouse.  Unfortunately my phone had died that weekend -- and by died I mean cracked to misery -- so I had my sister take the photos.  And then her phone died and she wasn't able to transfer the photos - I'm still crying -- so these are the few we had from my mom's phone.

Lesson learned ::  Next time bring Camera for sure...

This gorgeous champagne tinsel tree was a festive sight in our space...

We got a little messy, but it was good fun!
And They all turned out so unique and cute!

A pretty easy little craft that was a nice way to get together, relax and just have a little bit of sparkly fun!

And while I had been planning one for Maeve, a new friend of mine that I've met through many of the entrepreneur events I've been attending lately for Maeve invited me to a craft workshop that was pretty close to my house... so of course I responded yes!

We headed over to Kindred, an adorable little salon (as I found out once I got there)...

We headed back to a little room and I headed in there fairly early due to the fact that I noticed it was quite small...

I was greeted by Jackie and this adorable box of supplies...

We began to get our craft on and making messes...

I'm pretty pleased with how the final product turned out...
It was a triangle wreath and pretty easy to do so you might see it later on as a Maeve Craft night...

What have you been crafting over the holidays?!

DIY Fringe Curtains

I keep seeing the cutest little pom pom and/or fringe curtains everywhere.
They've been in many of my "carts" recently but I just haven't been able to pull the trigger.  Mostly because I've decided I'm scared to overspend (although only on certain things) and end up with buyers remorse.  So I've waited.

Then I walked into Michael's the other day and saw these adorable little tassel garlands.

And off to Target I strode to purchase some plain jane curtains which were on sale for $7.49/panel.  The first one I even got with an extra 20% off using Cartwheel.  But for some reason I only bought one at a time and when I went back for the 2nd the promo had expired.

So... If you'd like to make your own...
Here's what you'll need:

Fingy Tassels in color of choice from Michaels
(I used 1 pack per panel)
Curtains - Any kind you wish, but I used these.
Gold Scissors
(just kidding any color will do)
Needle & Thread

The tassels came on a string as I believe they were supposed to be used for Garland.

And if you know me, I never have a REAL way to measure so in true Little Miss Martha fashion I used my scissors to measure in between each tassel.

And with one of the easiest projects I've ever done, I had some really really cute curtains with a little bit of sass.

Share yours on my facebook page -- I'd love to see!!

DIY Lettered Canvas

Is it weird that I'm always picking up used canvases?
Because I do.
I see potential in them.

Last week I sneaked at something I was working on my Instagram account.

It started like this...

Not so pretty.  But I just painted over it with some white and cream paint.

It did take a few tries to get the pink highlighter color to be fully covered.
So 3 coats is what I ended up doing.

Then I found some inspiration on Pinterest and Google Images...

1 // 2 // 3

And then just started going freehand and this is how it turned out...

And here it is on the growing black and white gallery wall that is now in my bedroom...
Work in progress..

I think it still needs a border or accents or something, but for now, it works.

Michaels Love & Gifting

Do you ever have moments where you just fall back in love with a store?
I had that moment last week when I ran into Michaels and found these beauties.
Not that I ever fell out of love with them...

If you follow me on Instagram you know that I already posted the picture above on Saturday.
But it got me thinking that these would make great gifts for coworkers, students, girlfriends, etc!  Just by adding a little something to each they are great!

I had a couple of things lying around the house so I thought this would be a perfect little gift package for the girls on my team at work.  We all love wine and my little stoppers are fun... DIY stoppers.  I think I blogged about them somewhere along the lines.  And my little DIY animal jewelry dishes have been a hit with all those who have received them.

This package would be perfect for the under $10 or $15 gift exchange if you had that too... And all things fit nicely in the little pouch - the most expensive thing at $5 - and are super easy to make!

Then there's this little journal.  It was only $3.  And while I bought this one for myself and our Maeve business, this is along with a gold sharpie is a great little holiday gift!  First, who doesn't love sharpies!?!  And second, I swear that you can never have enough notebooks!

I think I love them because they remind me of those from Kate Spade...
1 // 2

The colors are just classy and very trendy right now.
And polka dots on anything make my heart skip a beat.  I just love them.

So... anything you are getting gifts ready for?
I'll have some more ideas along the way, but can you believe Christmas is only like 45 days away?!
Are you ready?

Happy Monday!

DIY Halloween Cemetery Fence

This year we decided to change things up just a little bit at the Kellermeyer Haunted Halloween Abode.  That's a long name...  But we decided we were going to work on a few things ourselves to try to make the house look a little different from year to year.

There were a ton of things I really wanted to do, but budget constraints and minimal storage puts the kibosh on a lot of things.  So we decided to enclose our cemetery this year.  In the past we've used lights, but this year we made a fence.  And it was pretty easy...

Mr K did it mostly since Halloween is his big gig, but I did my best to get pictures along the way.

You'll need 1x2 wood pieces that are cut to the desired length of your fence.
A drill
PVC pipe
Some sort of tape (or glue)
Spray Paint

First, drill holes through your wood.  Be careful not to get to big that it splits the wood but the right size for your PVC.

We decided to cut our PVC in offset sizes.  It gave the fence a better "look" we thought.

Then you just stick the PVC through the holes.
We used hockey tape around the bottoms of the wood to make sure the pipes didn't move too much.
You could use dabs of glue I'm guessing or duct tape.

Then this is how my hubs decided to spray paint them.
We used a brown Rustoluem primer as well as a black metallic.
Hoping to give it some sort of aged patina.

And our little helper trying to hold it up... and failing.

And the final product.

So the sides were a little different lengths because we had initially wanted to line our sidewalk with them, but then changed our minds to do it this way.  We made the gate doors using the same process.

Ells isn't too sure of the gatekeeper.  Rodger is his name.  He comes out every year and moves around the yard.

In the end around $30 and pretty easy to store since it's flat.  Now to clean up the garage {again}.

Only 2 days until Halloween!  Yay!

Halloween Potion Bottles

If you haven't figured it out by now, we love to decorate for Halloween.  This year we are a little behind on the outdoor décor, but don't you worry, it'll come together.
Anyways, I've always loved those little potion bottles you see everywhere.

Like Home Goods...

And Michaels...

They are so cute and fun!
But they are still kind of expensive!

So you know me... I headed on over to Goodwill to see what I could come up with.
And lucky for me, I found all 6 of these on my first trip!  Thank goodness!

It's actually quite simple to make these.
I think I might make a few more every year so that I can have a large collection some day!
I'm definitely going to need a bigger garage or attic because of how we have decided to decorate for the holidays!

I took the above glass containers outside and gave them a light spray paint.
I didn't want them to be perfect.  I felt like the lighter the spray, the older they might look in the end... Like they were worn and used.

Then I scoured the internet for some labels to use.
You can find labels all over the place -- just google "free potion bottle printables."
I printed out these from Itsy Bitsy Fun but didn't use them this round.  They are cute though.
I ended up having a ton saved to my computer from last year and found a few more over at Dancing Barefoot in Sand & Snow that I used too!

Next I cut them out and figured out which label would go on which bottle.

Then I cut them out as close to the edges as I could and stuck them on with Modge Podge.
It's a little messy process because I just used my fingers to smooth over the labels.

I really do like how they turned out.
Would you believe that Insectodeth one used to have a Christmas tree on it?!  Right?!

I felt they needed a little bit of love around them so I pulled out some cockroaches and worms.

In the end, I like them.
They are dark and interesting.

Here's a cost breakdown::
Bottles - 6 in total - $6
Labels - Free
Black Spray Paint - Already Had
Modge Podge - $8
______________________
Total $14 for 6 bottles

Not bad... $15 for some new Halloween décor that no one else has the exact same of!
