Do You Decorate for Valentine's Day?

It's here...
The day that you either love to hate or hate to love.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Pictures courtesy of Rylee Madison Photography

I'm not sure which end of that spectrum I'm on... we never really do anything that special.  I usually get a card from Mr K and we try to cook a nice dinner, but I think that he did that last night instead.
Oops!
So really, this is one we don't do much for...
we usually say we will try to do something, but nothing ever comes from it...

And I definitely do not decorate for it... Do you?
But Valentine's decor is can be so cute.
I wonder if I will decorate more in the future just for Baby Kakes.
I saw a friend who basically made it another birthday for her child!  Not sure how I feel about this...

With that being said, if I did decorate, here is how I would do it...
I've loved this since before our wedding and it would be a great way to use it over and over and over...

The Holidays are Here... Kinda

Aren't you ready to start shopping for the holidays?!  I know I'm getting there... I walked into Walmart to grab some mums yesterday and was smacked in the face by the faux Christmas trees that were just hanging out... Wow!  It's  not even Halloween yet, but who cares!

Who doesn't love buying gifts?!?  I know I do!  I love to share things I love with others and also to just share with others in general!  It's so much fun.

So... here we go!  Here's a few peeks at the holiday collection!  You can see it all at www.stelladot.com/abbyk as you already know.

Loving our new gift boxes too!  Perfect for the holidays and the lazy wrapper like me!  ;)

I'm in love with that fox ring and the Admiral Bracelet!  Maybe a little pricey, but that's why you should host a party b/c then you can get it for free or half price!  I've helped so many people at work get free jewels that will last them a lifetime!  They all love their Stella pieces!

And this season, we've turned the corner and become a full out accessory company... with scarves, wallets, cases, and jewelry of course!  Our scarves are the finest quality and so fashionable.  Everyone is seriously loving them!  Seriously!  You will too!

The Suzanne cocktail ring is gorgeous!  It's so dainty and just the right amount of emerald color.  This one is sure to stay with you for a long time!  And the dainty Demi, Laural, or Swallow earrings are the perfect gifts all for under $25!

And don't forget about Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  You can shop the Hope Bracelet or Luna Bracelet in Rose Gold and the net proceeds from those sales will go to the Noreen Fraser Foundation for cancer research.  Beautiful picks!  Seriously!  And that's a special for October!

And our latest designer collaboration is with the amazing Alice Temperley who has done Alice by Temperley exclusively for Stella & Dot!  Her designs are gorgeous and everyone is loving these too!  Don't wait long because we know they will sell out!  They are sure hits!

See the Queen of Hearts Necklace below that is one of my favorites and from her collection!

So much to share this month!  Amazing new pieces to share with your friends!

Mondays with Martha { Valentine's Day }

Some Valentine's Day ideas from the lovely Martha.

Who doesn't love chocolate covered strawberries?  And these really are pretty easy to make!

via

I am loving these dried cranberry shortbread hearts.  They look delicious.  Mr. K could be seeing these tomorrow... just so I can eat them!

via

I think we tried to make these last Valentine's day.  But who cares?!?  Don't they look and sound delicious?!?  Molten Mocha Cakes.

via

And here's a really easy "cheat" for the evening... Brownie Hearts.  All you need is some brownie mix and a heart shaped cookie cutter!  Martha makes her brownies from scratch, but cheating is ok sometimes!

And just because I was looking... here are some cookies I will be trying to make soon!

12 Days of Christmas { We were spoiled on Christmas morning }

Ummm.... please don't judge the crazy prego girl in this picture!  I can't believe I'm even sharing this!  I look like a whale!

But, here's Mr. K and I on Christmas morning 2011 in our traditional Holiday pajamas!

Every year we open gifts with my in-laws on Christmas Eve and we do the Christmas Day thing with my parents.  This year was no different.

Opening gifts at The Kellermeyers was fun.  We finished dinner with Mr. K's cousin, and grandparents and were all settled into our Jammers (as you can see from above).

So lets give a run down of our spoiledness at Christmas One:

Me:
Gift cards to Michaels, Banana Republic (for after the baby), and some cash.
A donut maker
Domino Decor Book
The Perfectly Imperfect Home Book

Mike:
Some items for his desk at work like a clock and Colt's notepad
Some golf balls
Some clothes

Oh, and an Ipad 2!

We usually finish unwrapping then move into the family room to watch A Christmas Story because Mr. K's dad always wants to watch it.
Then Christmas morning we wake up early and go to my house where everyone hangs out in their jammers until about 11 or 12.  It's so mellow!  This year I was really bad about taking pictures of everyone, but I was able to snap a few.  Please don't judge the people in these pictures... they were either being silly or just remember we'd just woken up.

Our spoiledness at Christmas Two included:
Me:
Kate Spade Purse - Holla!
Black Sperry Flats
Amazing Grace items from Philosophy
A toaster!

Mr. K:
Banana Republic Sweater and Shirt
Notre Dame Hockey Jersey
Hartford Whalers Hat
Ipad Case

I'm sure I am forgetting things, but lets just say it was a stellar Christmas for Mr. K and I.  We really made out.  Even Baby K got me a gift and received some thing too!

Happy Belated Christmas!

12 Days of Chrismas { Letter to Santa }

Dear Santa,

This year for Christmas I was wondering if you could stop by a little after the usual drop off of December 25th. You see, I was wondering if you could bring me a little bundle of joy towards the end of January (as planned) that is healthy and happy and as beautiful as can be.

If that’s too much to ask, then I’d like to drop a few things in this note to you that Mr. K and I could use around the house:

(1) A Maid
  • Why? No, it’s not because we are too lazy to clean… it’s because we are usually too tired. We work a lot and with this baby coming we aren’t sure how we are going to continue to keep up with everything.
(2) Some Bookshelves
  • We need some new bookshelves for our loft.  Ours currently look like the leaning tower of Pisa.
  • Please notice the tilt of the one on the left. Probably not a good idea to have those around once this little baby pops on out. They definitely need replaced. If I could find some on Craigslist that would be grand so maybe you can help out with that? If you give new ones to someone else, let me know if they list the old ones!
(3) Patience
  • Please bring patience to both Mr K and I. Lord knows we’ll need it come January. I do not like a lot of noise so I’m hoping this baby is happy and doesn’t cry too much although I am almost assured that will not be the case.  But patience would help us get through this time.  Oh, and if you could let people know or if you are bringing some for the baby that quiet toys are best that would be great too!
(4) A Money Tree
  • Do you have these? It would be nice if you could throw one my way.
(5) New Flooring
  • I’d like to share with you our flooring situation… Yes, we are in dire need of new carpet.  There are two holes in the carpet in our bedroom, we have a huge hole in our guest bedroom, and then there is a rip going through the floor in our living room.  New flooring is probably necessary very soon.  Or a coupon or discount code works too!
Wow, that’s a very scattered list. Let’s blame it on the prego brain.

I realize that you are a very busy guy and there are many people out there less fortunate than Mr. K and I. We appreciate all that we have and are willing to wait to get new things so if you are too busy around Christmas, feel free to drop in around the end of January. Someone is bound to be home and awake…

Right now we just hope for a Happy, Healthy, and Prosperous 2012 and a happy and healthy baby girl. I’m sure there are things that we will find out we really do need, but for now, a happy & healthy baby, a happy home, and each other is about all we need to get by.
That money tree sure would be nice though…

Hoping to see you after Christmas,

12 Days of Christmas { Gift Wrapping }

Since I came down with the Flu on Sunday and didn't remember to take any pictures at the FFSC Skate with Santa Event, I am having to change my game plan a little here for the 12 Days of Christmas line up.

Instead of Skate with Santa, we are skipping to Gift Wrapping.  Usually this is one of my favorite things to get creative on.  I use brown wrapping paper mostly and accent with ornaments, string, ribbon, bows, etc.  However, because I'm feeling a little behind this year, I am using old wrapping paper that I still have left from previous years at home.

I'm still going to get a little creative hopefully.  And here are some inspirations in wrapping to get those juices flowing...

Brown Paper Packages Tied Up with Strings:

*These are a few of my favorite things...
Oops... I'll stop singing now.  This trend of wrapping though has been taken to a new level.  It used to be literally just that - brown paper packages tied up with strings.  It's now an art.  I love to wrap and I love to use the brown paper as a backdrop because it allows for so many other things to be used!!!

See these below that use all different kinds of elements and are fairly easy for the most part!

via

What a great way to wrap things up for coworkers.  These are just brown boxes tied with strings.  You could use all different kinds of string or ribbon and get the same effect.  Simply chic.

via

These get a little more intense although I do still think just about anyone could do them!  Using gift tags you can take a plain Jane brown box to a sassy little statement piece under the tree.  Or, cut out your own snowflakes and top the boxes with those!  That will definitely add charm, character, and love to any plain brown package!  Or maybe you like to stamp or draw... make your own design on the brown paper!  The possibilities are almost endless!  And the best part... you aren't breaking the bank!

via

Here's another example of adding gift tags and ribbon.  And they even used a little bit of greenery to change it up!  Again, easy and simple.  And since you aren't splurging on the wrapping paper itself, you totally can on the ribbon!

via

Now, I will say that these seem to be a little more complex, but I couldn't leave them out because they are just too beautiful!  So many options and different elements used!  Think of the possibilities!

via

Another personal favorite!  And if you are like me, you'll never forget which gift is for who again!  Label them with the names as decor!  Use newspaper, scrapbook paper, stickers, or whatever to paste the name of the recipient right on the front of the package!  Looks great!

via

And lastly one of the latest trends is using that Japanese tape out there that comes in all different kinds of colors and patterns.  It is a little more expensive, but like I said before, if you aren't splurging on the paper itself, you can on the accents!

Using Coordinating Colors:

*Another favorite way of mine to wrap is using coordinating colors and patterns.  It's almost like interior design.  As long as you have a colors scheme going, your packages will always look good under the glistening Christmas Tree!  I got this from my mom which I'm sure many of you did.  She'd always choose coordinating papers and the tree always looked magical on the morning of Christmas!

via

via

via

And the colors aren't restricted to red, green, and white... get crazy and use pinks and blues and oranges!  Your holidays will be way more fun that way!

via

via

Gift Bags & Boxes:

*And we never want to forget our lovely fall back plan... the gift bag.  You know we've all done it.  It's not always just a fall back plan either... sometimes items just fit better in a gift bag or box.  But you don't always have to use just the store bought gift bags... buy plain ones and make them your own with printable labels like below.  Or dress them up just like those brown paper packages!

Random Ideas:

*And just because I enjoy a little bit of funk... here's a cute idea if you have the time for it!  I know my sister would appreciate this wrapping... she may not even open her package!  ha ha.  You could also make them look like Santa if you wanted... or an Elf for that matter.  Get creative!

via

Or use fabric.  It's an easy, reuseable way to wrap these days!  And it's becoming more popular too!  Grab scraps you have on hand... or go grab the discounted scraps from the store.  It's probably comparable to the price of wrapping paper and can be used again!

via

And lastly, why not give the gift of cash on top of the gift!  I wish all my packages came wrapped like this one!  Of course, you'd need to be extremely careful not to ruin the extra $$$!  But easy and cute and everyone loves cash at the holidays!

via

So there you have it... tons of ideas on how to wrap this season!  Are you done wrapping?  Did you use any of these techniques?!?  I'm not even close probably because I'm not done shopping yet!  Oops!  Better get going on that one... hoping to be done by tonight!  :)

Christmas Countdown: 4 days!
