Friday Fave :: House Seven

I love sharing new blogs that I find or know or love... It's fun to share good things, right?!?

Well today's Friday Fave is seriously an absolute fave.  I could live in her house.  I mean seriously, I could.  I would even settle for the play room, or office.  Her home is something out of a magazine, but she's just so gosh darn wonderful you wouldn't hardly believe it!  Her name, Anissa.  Her blog, House Seven.

I might be bias on this one since I know her and get to peruse her home often.  I usually walk in assuming there will be something new to be found, or something moved -- which honestly is my favorite because I'm constantly moving things and my husband thinks I'm crazy and knowing that she does this too lets me know it's ok!

You name it, this girl can do it!
The name for her blog is House Seven because it's just that, their 7th house!  Like Woah!  I can't imagine living in seven homes, but it would be great to get to reinvent your decor style each time you move!  Her home is a mix between modern, blog-style, and a little Country Living & Domino mixed in.  Clear as mud?  Right... but seriously she can put an amazing twist on styles, recover furniture, sew, paint, & create!

So hop on over to House Seven and leave her some love.  I know you are going to love her projects as much as I have!  I'm hoping when she's run out of things to do at her house, she'll come fix mine!  Can't wait to see what else House Seven has up her sleeve!

Oh!  And not to mention she has an amazing coupon code she's offering for a local lettering artist, For The Love of Letters!  I can't wait to get mine today!

Happy Friday Y'all!

Friday Favorite : Sarah M. Dorsey Designs

This might be one of my favorite DIY blogs.  I know, I know... I probably say that about everyone!
But this girl can do anything!  She's amazing!

I've been following her for maybe a little over a year?  Maybe longer... but I found her after she won the Creating for the Stars Challenge last year.

I love that she tackles anything!  And tries anything!  And rarely seems to fail!

When she made these curtains, I almost went out and bought all the supplies, but knew mine would not turn out as good.  She did provide a free download of the stencil which made the process even more tempting!

When she made this chandelier, I was sold.  I need more time to try to make something like this.. but would you know that it was DIY?

via

Then she posted these printables and I decided they needed to be some in my home.. A second one might be getting printed shortly!  They cost $7 to have printed at Staples.

via

And here they are in my house!

And those are just three of my favorite projects she's done!  There are plenty more on her blog!  So hop on over and check out Sarah!  What she does with some things will seriously blow your mind!

Now off to cater to my sick child now... we have a cough that won't go away.

Happy Friday!

EdiTORIal

While I do not have an obsession with Tori Spelling, I do find her decorating something I envy.  I do find her a bit over the top, but what mom isn't... at least those who can be, right?  And I enjoy stories on Tori and Dean and babies Liam and Stella.

So the other day when I was scanning through all the updates for blogs I follow, I saw that Hooked on Houses had a feature about the Spelling Mansion finally selling.  Of course, I hop on over there to check out the pics.  Apparently I've never really seen them before so I read the entire post, start to finish - not just looking at the pictures which lets be honest, sometimes happens.  But doesn't this picture just make you want to read more?!?

via

Toward the end there was a link to EdiTORIal.  It's Tori's new website which has an entire sections devoted to decorating, crafting, living, loving, etc.  It's actually quite wonderful.  And one of the best parts, it's like a community... you can join and discuss and comment and post.  It's like Tori's Facebook!  haha.

I'm sure I'll be hopping over there often.
Can't wait to see all the things she shares!!!

-- Thrifty Thursday -- Lighting --

Today I'm thinking lighting.  Who doesn't have those brass fixtures either in your house just waiting to be replaced or just lying around somewhere.  I know I have a couple.

I'm always thinking...hmmm, what should I do with those.  Well, now I'm thinking, replace them with another BRASS Light Fixture.   Kind of.

Here are a few re-dos that are on the el cheapo and are actually stunning and very visually pleasing.

The first one comes from Centsational Girl.  She is one of my new favorite blogs.  She's not new, but I'm new to her.  Here she takes an antique brass chandelier from Drab to Fab in like 2 seconds flat (well the time it takes to spray paint)...  AND she got it for FREE!!!  Who doesn't love a bargain.  Click here to see how she did it.

The next fabulous lighting redo is from The Painted Hive.  This is awesome.  I know we've all seen these!  Even if it was at a thrift store while looking for other bargains, but now you don't have to walk right by it!!!  Click here to see how she made this transformation come to life!!!

This next redo is a bit summery for me, but it could be done in any color.  I was thinking that turquoise that is really hot right now.  Anyways, it's from Billie Monster.  She takes this old brass lamp from brass to bright!  Love it!

What do you think?  I think even with that fabric turquoise would look AWESOME!!!  Click here to see how she did it.

Ok, and last for today's thrifty idea for lighting...  We have this Shabby Chic Lamp Revamp from Remodelaholic.  I kind of love this blog too.  She does her own stuff, but she is also featuring others all the time.  She also posts like ALL DAY LONG!!!  You can barely keep up.  But anyways, with her revamp, she had her eye on this Pottery Barn Lamp, and who doesn't?!

Picture from Pottery Barn
I personally love the floor lamp.  She had a brass lamp on hand that she thought she's makeover.  Below is how it turned out and click here to see how she did it.

Hope these have inspired you!  I keep looking for good shaped lamps and am coming up dry!  :)

Send me lamps that you've redone if you'd like!

DIY Headboard Redo

Hello Blog Hogs!!

It's Thrifty Thursday again and this one is so great!  Why?  Because if you are like me, we see this type of thing all the time and can't quite wrap my head around how to go about it...well, now we can!!!

source

This comes from Emily Ann from Emily Ann Interiors.  She came across a dingy, old, dark wood, upholstered headboard at a thrift store and couldn't walk away from it with it only being $40.  So she brought it home and wasn't sure what she was going to do with it.

First, she took apart the frame and fabric part of the headboard.  Then she painted the wooden frame white.  A much crisper look than the dated dark wood.

source
A friend told her she should stuff the tufts so she did with little pieces of batting.  This would make the fabric stretch more perfectly. And over that, she layed a thin layer of batting.

From there, she stapled the new fabric (of choice) and batting to the lip of the headboard.  When you do this, make sure you leave enough lip to screw the frame back on.

source

And here is her finished product!  This project only cost her a total of $70.

I think I'm now on the hunt!  I need a headboard for our guest bedroom.  :)

Enjoy!

-- Habitually Chic --

Habitually Chic is a blog that I happened onto.  This week, Heather is featuring vendors from the New York International Gift Fair...  I wish I could go, but I must work.

I love Habitually Chic for it's fresh look on designing.   She is always showing us sassy items, homes, work spaces, or anything glamorous and stylish!

In the past few days she's posted some beautiful photos of the vendors.  Below are just some of the eye candy she's been dishing about.
