DIY Wood Bead Garland @ The City Moms

This weekend I was a progress machine...
And you can only half tell by the current status of my house...
I swear the next time it's all clean I'm going to have someone come take photos for when it's time to sell so I'll just be like "Oh you need house pics, right here...DONE!"

But... I did, along with tons of cleaning, get a few DIY projects done this weekend... Events for the Creative Entreprenuer

Are you like me and dying to make it to a blog conference?!  Well... I am... and it's not ok that I haven't been to one!  One of my goals for 2015 {Have you figured it out yet that I'm starting the year off with trying to stay true to my goals?!?!} is to attend one.  At least.  My friend Melissa has started this awesome website for creative entrepreneurs and I love it.  Why?  Well because it's a great resource.

The Chief Encouragement Office

Creative, Fun, Full of Info.  I know the website is not fully done yet, but the "educate" page I am especially in love with.  This page includes conferences and workshops to help you grow in your business!

I feel like creative entrepreneur events are hard to come by in the midwest and cost an arm and a leg!  They are seriously upwards of $700 typically.  Some are even $2400.  That's unbelievable to me.  Not that I have ruled them out based on price, but that doesn't really fit into my budget right now.  So...

This year I hope to attend a Bloom Workshop, Haven, and Influence.
via

Bloom Workshops have introduced mini workshops this year.  Not only are they located in Grand Rapids, but these mini workshops are running around $150-$200 which is more in my budget.  I'm excited to try one in March.  Hoping it doesn't sell out before I get around to signing up!

via

Haven Conference has just listed their dates for 2015 and I can't wait -- July 16-18 in Atlanta!  I'm hoping to hit this up with my friend Anissa from @housesevenblog this year!  She's instafamous, but we also talked about going last year and this is the year for making things happen so we are going!  Plus, Haven usually runs about $250 so again, in our budget.  "It is where DIY lovers from all over will gather together to encourage and learn from one another. You will find hands-on sessions led by some of the top DIY bloggers who will share their knowledge on subjects such as painting furniture and using power tools. For those of you desiring to learn more about blogging, there will be sessions on topics that include social media and how to monetize your blog."

via

And lastly The Influence Conference.  Umm... well, it's in Indianapolis so yea, I must go.  I was going to go last year but talked myself out of it because of it's spiritual undertones.  Sometimes that stuff freaks me out. Not going to lie.  But this year I'm going no matter what.   And I'm excited about it.  Already!
So now everything is on my calendar... and I just have to figure out how to pay for all of these!  Time to work on the next 2015 goal... saving...

Friday Favorite :: Honey & Fitz

It's time to feature another one of my favorite blogs!  I love to feature blogs who do it all... and all good things at that!

So today I'm featuring Honey & Fitz.

via

Not only does she design beautiful and functional rooms like these that you can see in her portfolio...

I die over that houndstooth upholstered vintage chair!  Yes Please!

She also does her share of DIY!  Here are a couple of my favorite projects of hers!

And I have been wanting to do curtains like those in my living room forever and that bow garland is perfect for a birthday party -- Minnie's BowTique theme!

Thanks for the constant inspiration Dina!  Love the blog and can't wait to see what's to come!

Friday Fave :: House Seven

I love sharing new blogs that I find or know or love... It's fun to share good things, right?!?

Well today's Friday Fave is seriously an absolute fave.  I could live in her house.  I mean seriously, I could.  I would even settle for the play room, or office.  Her home is something out of a magazine, but she's just so gosh darn wonderful you wouldn't hardly believe it!  Her name, Anissa.  Her blog, House Seven.

I might be bias on this one since I know her and get to peruse her home often.  I usually walk in assuming there will be something new to be found, or something moved -- which honestly is my favorite because I'm constantly moving things and my husband thinks I'm crazy and knowing that she does this too lets me know it's ok!

via

You name it, this girl can do it!
The name for her blog is House Seven because it's just that, their 7th house!  Like Woah!  I can't imagine living in seven homes, but it would be great to get to reinvent your decor style each time you move!  Her home is a mix between modern, blog-style, and a little Country Living & Domino mixed in.  Clear as mud?  Right... but seriously she can put an amazing twist on styles, recover furniture, sew, paint, & create!

via
via

So hop on over to House Seven and leave her some love.  I know you are going to love her projects as much as I have!  I'm hoping when she's run out of things to do at her house, she'll come fix mine!  Can't wait to see what else House Seven has up her sleeve!

via

Oh!  And not to mention she has an amazing coupon code she's offering for a local lettering artist, For The Love of Letters!  I can't wait to get mine today!

Happy Friday Y'all!

Friday Favorite : Sarah M. Dorsey Designs

This might be one of my favorite DIY blogs.  I know, I know... I probably say that about everyone!
But this girl can do anything!  She's amazing!

I've been following her for maybe a little over a year?  Maybe longer... but I found her after she won the Creating for the Stars Challenge last year.

I love that she tackles anything!  And tries anything!  And rarely seems to fail!

When she made these curtains, I almost went out and bought all the supplies, but knew mine would not turn out as good.  She did provide a free download of the stencil which made the process even more tempting!

via

When she made this chandelier, I was sold.  I need more time to try to make something like this.. but would you know that it was DIY?

via

Then she posted these printables and I decided they needed to be some in my home.. A second one might be getting printed shortly!  They cost $7 to have printed at Staples.

via

And here they are in my house!

And those are just three of my favorite projects she's done!  There are plenty more on her blog!  So hop on over and check out Sarah!  What she does with some things will seriously blow your mind!

Now off to cater to my sick child now... we have a cough that won't go away.

Happy Friday!

Friday Favorite : Little Green Notebook

Do you have any blogs that you religiously check everyday?!  I typically go through blogs with recent posting listed under MY blogs on my blogger home page.  But there are a few that I don't even wait for them to post and I go directly to their site... hoping and praying they've posted something new since I last checked!

One of those is Little Green Notebook.

I found Jenny's blog a couple years ago when I was wanting to dye lampshades.  She had a really cute tutorial and it was easy and worked really well.  I love that she's not afraid to reuse things and she loves hunting for great finds just like I do, but she finds AMAZING things!

Some of my favorite projects that she's done include...

Using Plywood for flooring in her new office area which she posted about here:

I loved the final result and wish I had somewhere I could do this!
A great affordable option for a larger space!

Tips for Thrifting which she posted about here:

I don't know if it's just where she is located (NY now Arizona I think) but she comes across the most amazing things!  I love that she shares her tips and I love that she takes 30 seconds sometimes to run through her favorite thrift stores because consistency in stopping is how you find the best things!

Her DIY Faux Painted Bust which she shows here:

I saw a bust at Hobby Lobby the other day that I wouldn't mind trying this on...

And her little redo on this vinyl chair made me seek one out even though I don't have a place to put it!

And I seriously looked for a chair like this for like a week straight after I saw this post to try to do this to!  i really don't have anywhere for one to go, but I wanted to stripe a chair like this... doesn't it look so chic?!?

I love seeing what she's got up her sleeve everyday!  She's got an eclectic style which I LOVE and I feel like her homes are always pretty "layered" but they always seem livable and comfortable!  She does a really great job of mixing old with new and reusing things!  If you haven't already, and you love decor and thrifting, then you should hop over to Jenny's blog and check out all her DIYs!  I am pretty sure you'll fall in love instantly!

Happy Friday!
