FitFluential & Losing It Link Party

Well, it's officially my start date of my new fitness routine!  Last week I told you my game plan and now it's time to implement!

I'll be honest... I did NOTHING this weekend, but that's all over now.  I shared my gym times with my hubby, hopped on the scale this morning, and it's time to get crackin!

Last week I found FitFluential through Rachel at Running Backwards in High Heels.  She's inspiring with all the running she does!  So I was browsing around on her blog and saw a link for FitFluential on her sidebar.  It's the perfect combination of fitness and influence.  They say that there are many different levels and kinds of fitness and they get it!

They are delivering positive messages of health and wellness, but also promoting to maintain a healthy balance.  It's easy to get caught up in the strict rigidness of excersise and it doesn't have to be that way!  It's just about creating and incorporating new habits into your lifestyle that will improve your health and well-being overall.  Fitness should fit into your life.  They say you should focus on the four components of a healthy life: eat, sleep, move, and enjoy!
I signed up to join last week and I promise "moving" posts to make sure I'm holding myself accountable!

My goals:
To follow my weekly work out plan as closely as possible!
To lose some baby weight!
To train to participate in a mini marathon!
To get fit and healthy!
Tonight it's run time... I'll make sure to fill you in on how my week progresses next Monday, but for now, share your goals below!  It's a link party where we can all be supportive of each other goals and accomplishments!

Let's get this party (and Monday) started on the right foot!

Game Plan

Happy Friday Everyone!  We made it!  Can you believe it?!?  I can't!  I'm dying!  I'm exhausted, achy, sneezy, itchy eyes, bloated, etc... I sound like the warning signs they say on those drug commercials.  Great...

But I'm bound and determined, no matter how I feel, starting next week to get going on this whole "let's get back into shape" thought process.  I definitely need to lose at least 30 lbs to feel good again!  Darn baby... Just kidding... I heart her.

So I sat down and looked at my schedule, Mr. K's schedule, our sitter schedule, and the gym schedule to try to come up with a "Game Plan."  And I did just that... I think it's very ambitious... maybe too ambitious, but we are going to try it.  I'm sure I'll have headaches out the wazoo from extreme exhaustiveness, but they can't last forever, right?

Here it is...

Skating starts to slow down in May, June, July.  Especially for me because I work during the day and a lot of sessions for summer skating are when I'm working.

Mondays I do not have skating, but Mr. K usually has lessons.  So I have to come home from work to get Ells.  There aren't any good classes at the gym on Monday night so I'll be running outside with Ells or running on a treadmill at the gym.  Our gym has a daycare facility so I figure she can handle going there for an hour 3x a week.

Tuesdays I teach Learn to Skate so I get home a little later.  Mr. K also does a hockey clinic that night at the same rink, but later in the evening.  I typically meet him at home to takeover with Ells and then he leaves for his thing.  I'm thinking once I get home, I can head over to the gym or he can meet me there instead of at home.  Strike is the class that I'll be taking. Love it.  I've done it before - Way long ago before I was pregnant.  It's a kick-boxing inspired workout where you wear weighted gloves and a bar to get a full body workout.

Wednesdays I teach after work until about 7:30p.  Needless to say I think this will be a day off.  I get home just in time to eat, put Ells to bed, and then get up and do it all over again.  If I feel like it, I'll do my 20 min Windsor Pilate's DVD on these days.  If I feel like it...

Thursdays I do not teach currently.  I may pick up a class, but I don't have one at the moment.  So for May at least, I'll be able to catch Strike after work.  I'll run home and grab Ells and we'll head on up to the gym.  Then I'll have the whole evening off and still be home by 7p.

Fridays are another long skating night.  I work until at least 7:15p.  However, I need to get something in on Friday nights so I'm hoping to throw in a quick 30 min run.  I'd like to do 3 miles every time I run, but I'll have to work up to that.  I did sign up for that mini this fall and will likely begin training for that somewhat this summer.  I need new shoes...

Saturdays and Sundays I'll play by ear.  It would be nice to get up early on those days and go for a run too, but I don't want to burn myself out.  I think the work girls are getting together for a run the 2nd Saturday of every month so I know I'll do that, but outside of that I think I'll pick one day or the other.

I have to get back in shape.  Momma gotta lose these love handles and get back into her skinny jeans... and by skinny jeans I mean the jeans I wore two years ago when I was skinny - like wedding skinny.

Anyone else want to jump on the bandwagon?  I think I'll start a link up... beginning next week.  Every Monday I'll have a link party to share your stories of success on exercise, dieting, weight loss, healthy eating, etc... Anything related to getting fit or becoming more healthy!  That ought to be fun!  So tell your friends and please come back Monday to see the linky party!

Until then, enjoy your weekend.  It's supposed to be stormy here so I've got the closet cleaned out again... for those Tornado moments... Ugh.  TGIF!

Thrify Thursday - Craigslist Finds

Here's the latest edition of Craigslist Finds.
I had someone over the other day and they commented on a piece I have and just responded "Craigslist." Which got me to thinking about how many items I do have that are from craigslist or goodwill.  Is it time to move on or time to search harder?  I know I need some items replaced, but I continue to search for something old that can either be repurposed or refinished or that is in good condition and beautiful!

So here we go...

Search words...
Armoire, Pedestal, $15, Dressers, Settee, and Vintage
I search all these in Furniture.

I usually check the "Free" listings too, but today there weren't any.

Here's what I found that I thought were good deals.

ARMOIRE

Check out this Armoire that is listed for only $35!  WOWZA!!!  Can you say on the cheap?!?!  I mean what a steal.  This could easily be painted and maybe add a stencil to it, and paper the inside.  It could become a very, very cool piece.

Here's another pretty decent deal!  This looks like it might be from JCP, but I'm not sure...doesn't say.  A very classic piece and already in white!  And only $75.  Not too shabby!

via
And while this one is not my favorite and I probably wouldn't use it as a TV stand like suggested in the ad, it's a petite armoire which is what we are looking for.  It could easily be sassed up to become a cute little accent piece that is functional!  $50 is a good price too.

 PEDESTAL

I like this table.  I'm looking at getting a pedestal table and am not opposed to refinishing one... Mr. K might be, but he doesn't have to know my plans just yet.  This one is perfect... Great look, great shape, and even comes with the four chairs and a leaf.  The only problem for me is that it's $500.  That might be a great deal, but not in my budget.  So I will keep looking...

I do very much enjoy this table and I think it is a good deal at only $100, but it's gorgeous as is and I really am looking for white or something to paint another color like gray possibly.  Plus, it seems a little heavy for my small space.  But again, love it.

And here is the perfect table... for me... almost...
It's a cute, petite, good basic pedestal dining table.  And only listed at $40.  My only problem with it is that it doesn't have a leaf and I'd really like to have one in case we ever have a bunch of people over to eat.  We always hang out at our kitchen table and I want it to be big enough.  I have three siblings and two parents and tons of cousins and grandparents etc... and want them all to not feel squished (as much as this is physically possible in my house).

 $15

The perfect chair for the DIYer.  Could probably be reupholstered easily and is a cute shape!  And the best part about it is that it's only $5.

via

And here's a brass lamp to add to your "MUST SPRAY PAINT" pile... Oh, am I the only person that has one of those... oops!  I think that's my entire garage!
But it's only $15 and is an easy transformation from Drab to Fab!

via
 DRESSERS

Nothing worth showing...
Seriously.

SETTEE

I think this would be a fun one to try to paint.  I'm sure you'll all seen the painting of fabric in the blogosphere lately.  I think the almost ikat pattern would be cool to change to blue or gray or something fun or funky like teal.  And it's only $30 so it's one you could scrap if it looked totally awful! Actually thinking about it, this might be cool in my parents room if and when I ever get them to redo it...

via
And here's a good one too for only $89.  GREAT bones and would look lovely in a fun and funky color with white trim!  Wish I had a place for it because $89 is a steal!  Oh well, in another life/house!

VINTAGE

Boo, nothing worth sharing either...

Well, that was fun to get my craigslist fix on.  Now it's time to go over to Shopgoodwill.com and see what I can find!  Can't wait to share some of the finds I've gotten on there in the next couple of weeks... some are gifts so I have to wait to post about them!

Thank goodness it's Thursday!  YAY!!!

Losing It

I am losing it these days in many ways, but I NEED to be losing it in others... like weight!

Last night I went on a 3 mile walk (a quick one) in between severe thunderstorms, tornado warnings/watches, rain, lightning, thunder, hail, etc.  It got me thinking... although my body hates me the next day when I exercise it felt good.  It usually does.

So this morning, I downloaded the Lifetime Fitness app that they have to figure out when I can make it to the gym.  Ella is now old enough to go to the gym daycare and you know what, I think I'm ok with that... it wouldn't be for more than an hour anyways!  It's time to get this schedule figure out...

I also was not invited to a practice class that one of my friends is doing and even though I can't do it, I would have wanted to.  I like to say no rather than not be asked at all.  Skating is always getting in the way.

So....
It's time to LOSE IT!

Step One:
Download Gym App so that I know when classes are at different locations.

Step Two:
Figure out schedule to include gym time 3x a week.

Step Three:
Sign Up for any and all 5K, 10K, and Minis that I can from July on.

Step Four:
Use and Abuse my new walking partner - Julia!

Step Five:
LOSE IT!

I'm thinking these will be totally achievable!  I've already done step one and part of step three.  Scheduling is a major issue for us so we'll see what happens with that.  I guess even if we go Saturday and Sunday, it will still count.

I've already signed up for The Color Run

via

And The Monumental Mini here in Indianapolis

via

I'm hoping to get my Fort Wayne Fam to sign up for the Fort 4 Fitness Mini too!

via

Maybe I should just try to get back into skating... lol.

But seriously... I think I'm on the right track...
Bubye 30-40 unwanted L-B-S!

By the end of summer?  I think I could be down 20.  That's a good starting goal.  End of July would be 6 months from when Ella was born so I think that's a good goal...
Hold me to it!

But seriously, do!  I'll try to blog about my progress once a week and I'll keep track of my miles over at Dailymile.com.

Happy Hump Day!  (FINALLY!)
