Losing It - 2nd Edition

Good Friday Morning Blog Hogs...
Has anyone joined the "I Jiggle (just a little less)" Challenge from Running Backwards in Heels?  I did it 2 weeks ago and joined in on Week 3. I missed Week 4 and am joining back in on Week 5 - now!  I feel like if I start this, then I need to share with you guys... and if I feel like I need to share with you then maybe I'll actually run.

Weight Loss Challenge

Right now, that's all I'm doing... running.  This week so far I've run twice.  I should have run more, but I was fighting a headache all weekend through Monday (excuses, I know) so we finally ran on Wednesday.  You might notice that I wrote "we." If you didn't, I just pointed it out to you so now you do!  So yes, I've corralled Mike into the mix.  Don't worry, it is for his own good was his choice.  So we ran...
Monday - Nadda
Tuesday - Nadda
Wednesday - 2 miles
Thursday - 2 miles
Friday - ?
Definitely Saturday - @ least 2 miles

I think that's a good weekly running status for now.  Especially since my schedule is super crazy busy right now... I can barely keep track of everything that is going on.  Skating 7 days a week, Stella & Dot, and my full time job... I'm getting a bit exhausted, but skating will die down here soon and then it will be summertime!  Yay!

Thank goodness for the recent nice weather.  It's made me want to run more.  I just wish I had more time!  This week I posted on facebook that I needed to find a way to get more sleep out of the sleep I get...or a way to feel more rested because I think at the moment I usually get just over 6 hours, which I totally understand is more than some, but I'm beginning to think it's not enough for me!

As for weight... it's not going down.  I'm totally bumming.  I even hopped on the scale today and it seemed to go up.  Maybe it was my eyes and how tired I was this morning.  BUT I know that if I keep with it, something will change.  :)  I hope.

So for now, I'll keep running...
Keep trying to make my portions smaller...
Keep trying to make Mike go with me...
Keep trying to run longer...
And Keep On Keepin' On.

Goals for next week:
Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - Nadda
Wednesday - 2-3 miles
Thursday - 2-3 miles
Friday - Jillian's Shred?
Saturday 2-3 Miles
Sunday - Nadda

Happy Weekend to everyone!
I hope you enjoy your day with your mom's!  I'm going to do a special post on Sunday for my mommy!  :)

PS... I was watching a documentary called "Don't Forget About Me" regarding John Hughes. You should watch it.

Lunch Break Adventures

Yesterday on our lunch break at work 3 girls and I went on the search for a sale.
A sale we found on Craigslist.
A so called moving/estate sale.

We ventured out....
We are driving along...
We are driving some more, getting closer...

Then we see a man on the side of the road tilting a mattress with LARGE Spray painted letters on it... S-A-L-E.
This must be it.
(PS... I wish I had a picture of this classic moment when we figured out that this was the place)

The words in the ad were a bit misleading.  "It stated newer house behind the green one."  I wouldn't say it was "newer" but that's OK.

At this point it definitely crossed our mind to turn back and just pass on this one for the day, but I said "C'mon guys lets just be a little adventurous" and Emily said "yea, these are where you find the best stuff."  So we pulled down the long muddy drive and proceeded to hop out.

Bobby Orr Picture for Mike's office
Well, it was a good thing we stopped (for me anyways).  This guy had tons of hockey stuff that I got to sift through.  The other ladies found some items too.  However, the smell was a bit overwhelming.  It smelled everywhere like Cat Pee.  I felt kind of bad.  Everything smelled, but the REAL smell didn't hit us until we were in the car on the way back.

I purchased 3 hockey pictures (for Mike and his office), a pack of Indy Racers Vintage Magazines, some vintage hockey pins/buttons, and a belt buckle.
Shanna purchased some baskets, a wicker table, a mirror, a wine rack, and a tray.
Emily got some wooden serving bowls AND BROKE SOMETHING!  Priceless!  Not the piece she broke, but the moment when we heard the crash.
All in all, it really wasn't that bad of an experience.  Except for the high prices... I think he could have come down a bit more on his prices, but oh well.

Then we are driving back to work, and since Shanna bought a table, Allison was sitting in the middle floorboard and I was in the back with her.  All our goodies were in the trunk area with one seat pushed down to accommodate the table.  It was a bit of a tight squeeze.

Then Allison says "What's that smell?"
It was the table.
It smelled like Cat Pee.
We were all about asphyxiated by the smell so we rolled the windows down....which only made it worse.
Then I got Allison's attention and pointed to something on the table.

Yep, you guessed it.  See that red spot on the table (sorry for the blurr...it was on my phone and it takes lousy pictures).  Poo.  Or Vomit.  Either way, gross right!

Well, I guess that teaches us to try to be adventurous at lunch time.  Goodwill will probably do from here on out.

Raisin' for Red

Have I ever told you about my fear of tornadoes?  During the storm season, I live in this closet.

These are candles, batteries, a weather radio, and our important documents... I picked up some bills and our marriage certificate... don't judge.

Have I told you about my sister's fear of tornadoes? She lives in Memphis - Tornado Alley - and recently we told her to write her name and a contact phone number on her hand just in case.  I know it sounds somber, but you never know and apparently we've peeved Mother Nature pretty bad.
Look what she did...

After these last few rounds of tornadoes that have hit the south I'm forever keeping my closet cleaned out. We don't have a basement in our home now.  In our next home that's a definitely must (along with a few other things too).  But since I'll be keeping my closet clean this storm season and those who were hit recently don't have closets to keep clean right now, I'm hoping to give back a bit.

So I'm Raisin' for Red - The Red Cross that is!

During the Month of May I'll be donating 15% of online sales (Stella & Dot) to the Red Cross.  Now, I'll be honest... I've done this before and no one has participated.  I'm hoping that if you have something on your wish list, you'll act now and give back to the community down there!  Lord knows they need it!

I love to help out!  This is one way that I can!  I'm going to send this out to all my friends and I'd love for you to share as well.

On top of giving 15% of all online purchases, I'll send you a $5 off coupon for your next purchase!
Now that's a deal... I'm giving back to you too! For helping the cause!

Get your favorite items here.
When prompted for a hostess, type Red (first) Cross (last) and that's how I'll know to give the 15%!

Any questions... please let me know!  :)

Little Bench Make Over

Many things move around my house.  I did used to have a bench in the pantry, but it's made it's way to the top of the stairs.  That left me needing something to take it's place.

A little while ago, I purchased this bench on craigslist. It wasn't exactly what I thought it was going to be, but it was something to work with. I've been keeping my eyes open for a couple of different benches for my house, and this one came along so I jumped.

Here she is.  Not too much to look at.

So I got some semi-gloss gray spray paint and starting spraying away!  That got us here...

But we were still left with the bench seat.  It was definitely needing some TLC.

I took all the staples out from the underside.  I put a new layer of batting on it and used spay adhesive to help with the stick.  Then I grabbed some fabric that was still up in the "craft box" and started to re-cover the seat.

And here is how it turned out!  I'm actually pretty pleased!

Done any re-do's lately?
I've linked up over with Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick!
