Recap of 2011 { 2nd Six Months }

Round 2!

The second six months around here have been pretty hectic!  Mr. K and I have both been working our bums off trying to figure out how to handle this entire pregnancy.  I was sick from about May through September!  And working and skating and all that jazz!

So here's a round-up of the second half of 2011!
July:

I went to San Francisco - my second trip to the West Coast - for Stella & Dot.  It was a ton of fun and I got to meet and listen to so many inspiring women.  Hoping to continue with this in 2012!

Mr. K and I celebrated our One Year Anniversary at another wedding.  Kinda crazy that we spent the exact same weekend in Iowa celebrating with Kevin and Breigh!

I started to work on the gallery wall by pulling together lots of mismatched frames and inspiration!

August:

I continued to work on our gallery wall at the top of the stairs!  I used paper to decide where to hang everything!  It's finally up now and I think I can reveal it at some point... prego brain got the best of me on what I shared when finished and what I didn't.

I finished the bench for the end of our bed.  I ordered some sassy fabric from Fabric.com and was on my way to this!  And we love it!

I shared with you guys the big announcement that we were expecting!

September:

My mom made a new brooch bouquet for Sara and we attended her wedding in Chicago.  I love this one as it looks like wild flowers picked from a field.  It's completely different than mine.

I shared with you guys that we are expecting a little baby girl come January 2012!  No names yet but you can see nursery/baby posts here

I added art to the walls of my bedroom without breaking the bank by using free printables and frames found at goodwill!

I made my own version of the very trendy now ruler growth charts.  I think it's really cute... but am now kind of at a loss as to where to place this bad boy!

And I found a rocker for the nursery for only $30 on craigslist!  Jackpot!
The harder part was finding a reupholsterer!

 October:

I had my first crazy pregnancy dream... yea, it was weird.

I attempted to dye lampshades with the tutorial that I found over at Little Green Notebook.

We officially turned the office into a nursery by starting the process and painting... No picture here.

We decorated for Halloween in Kellermeyer Fashion.  Scared a few kiddos in the process with the Monster Box and Rodger!  Hoping to add to our display in 2012!

We found the dresser for the nursery on Craigslist after searching EVERYWHERE!  And by EVERYWHERE, I mean EVERYWHERE!

With the help of some cork squares, I organized my jewelry so that I could see it so that I could wear it!  It has since fallen off the door so I need to rethink this one! The jewelry was too heavy...

I attempted to make a ghost for Halloween (although I'd call it a semi-fail) with guidance found at The Lettered Cottage.  He was cute, but looked nothing like theirs!

November:

Went to Memphis to visit my sister and delivered some chairs to her for her patio.  We originally went for her Senior night, but she was injured and is now going to do another year or half year.  So I guess we'll be making one more trip to Memphis!

I had my first baby shower hosted by Mr. K's mom and aunt.  Kind of a bummer because people are turds, but we had great time with who was there and I got a lot of cute things!

I started working on the mobile for the nursery.  I saw the idea all over the Internet... apparently everyone has tried this.

I hosted Thanksgiving at my house for about 10 people.  It was decided last minute that we would host a small dinner, that turned into a bigger dinner because Mr. K was supposed to have hockey the day after Thanksgiving and I had to work.  It was good though... I tried a few new recipes!

December:

I continued to work on the mobile... what seems to be the never-ending project.  Which still isn't done and I'm considering reworking it... Great...

I made my own version of the snow globes found at Anthropologie.  They were a hit with everyone!  And I love them especially!

And I hosted a Cookie Decorating party and started a 12 Days of Christmas (which I only completed 9 or 10 days) - maybe I'll finish those up this week!

So there you have it!  There are only a handful of days left in December so I figured I could cut it off there!  What was your favorite thing about 2011 or do you have a favorite post her or elsewhere?!  Do share!

Nursery Dresser Reveal

Since lately I've been told "I"ll do it" instead of me being the one saying that, I have missed out on a few "before" pictures.  Like that of our dresser.
Remember this dresser we found on Craigslist?

Well, that's the only before picture I've got so it will have to do!
Mr. K used the new paint sprayer that I purchased to spray this bad boy down.  To take it from yellow to crisp white so that it would better fit in the nursery.  At one point, we had contemplated keeping it yellow as it's a super cute dresser as is, but once we got the yellow in the room we decided it had to be white.
Mr K painting a bed - to be revealed later...
Stealing the idea from a few other blogs of using the original hardware but just spray painting it, I went out on the search for the perfect shade of teal.  It's actually a teal that I'm in love with!  My sister brought it back with her from school last year and I've been holding on tight to the spray can since then!  However, I was going to need more than that to do my projects for the nursery.  So... I went to Home Depot to find my beloved color!  Lagoon by Rustoleum.  Teal, Turquoise, Lagoon...whatever you want to call it, it's the best color ever!
So here are the handles/hardware in the middle of the process... They needed two coats, but they are cute and were too good to not use!  And look how cute they are teal!
So with the dresser being sprayed white and the hardware ready, it was time to assemble the drawers again and bring it up to the nursery.
And TaDa!  I think I'm in love and am so happy with how it turned out!
Full frontal view!  I'll be adding a changing pad and a basket to the top and possibly a mirror and the mobile over it.
The handles up close.  Look at the details in them.  I couldn't pass up using them!
And a final view... I'm super pleased with how this turned out!
Thanks Mr. K for taking charge on this one painting wise!
Next up with Lagoon, the mini rocker!

Linking up with Thrifty Decor Chick!

Starting the New year off with some new reveals!
Happy 2012 everyone!

A Recap of 2011 { 1st Six Months }

With 2011 quickly drawing to a close, I figured I'd better recap how the last year has played out for Mr. K and I...
At least according to my posting habits...  ;)

January:

We hung hooks in our pantry.
Mr. K took a piece of scrap wood and we bought some hooks and about 20 min later, we had a place to hang our hats and coats!

I decided to read Twilight - and failed to finish.  I watched the movie instead.
I'm not good at finishing books.

And I refinished my Goodwill ottoman (which I'm now ready to part with...haha).
I found an ottoman that was dated and worn.  I then disassembled it, repainted it (2x), and reupholstered the top cushion to be used in our loft.

February:

Mr. K and I attempted to make homemade pasta with one of our Christmas presents.
Homemade pasta... Yummy!
My own little Chef Boyardee!

I found a new found love for slipcovers... making my Orange PB chair look like this!
Slipcovers are amazing and usually fairly cheap.

I added a star burst mirror wall in our entryway.
This is probably one area of my home that hasn't changed since I hung them.
And my mom has a wall just like it at her house!

And we got a new coffee table!
Thanks Mom and Dad for our Christmas Gift!
It's one of my favorite pieces in our living room!

March:

Mr. K took his hockey team to the Indiana State High School Hockey Championships... AND WON!!!
Woot Woot!  Go CCHC!

I took a Plain Jane bulletin board from drab to fab!
This DIY Inspiration board was easy and it looks way better than just a blah bulletin board!
However, it now needs a new home since the office became the nursery.

Our Wedding was featured at Hey Gorgeous!
{ but apparently it's not there anymore :( }
Kinda bummed about this one...

We got a new secretary from my grandmother and it's now in our living room.
I'd like to paint it a gray blue at some point { or who am I kidding, have it painted } but that's way down the road.  For now it sits in our living room RED as can be.

April:

In April we lost someone very close to our hearts - Miss Sue.  She set Mr. K and I up - she made him call me.  I can't say what she called him on this blog... but she told him that he was { you choose the word } if he didn't call me.  Then we had our first date on Christmas Eve of 2004? Wow... we are old and have been together forever!  Thanks to Miss Sue for changing my life forever!

I took a lamp from Brass to Sass with spray paint.
This was for my little brothers big boy room makeover!
See the inspiration boards here and here.

I helped my mother with redoing my brothers room.  I think it turned out quite nicely...
but it has changed a lot since I left it!

May:

*I found out I was expecting... although I didn't share with you guys until later*

I updated the bench in the pantry to look like this.
We moved the previous brown one to the top of our stairs and redid this craigslister for here!
I still think we should do a built in with storage!

I found my first official gray hair and wrote about how I thought I might embrace my gray days here.

We had our hallway painted... finally.
Thanks to Groupon and Mr K for picking the color!
I freaking love it!  Love Love Love!
And it goes so well with how I'd like our living room to end up!

Mr K and I added a mini patio on the back side of our house for our trash bins.
This was a great "team building" project for Mr. K and I!  HAHAHAHHAH!!!
I crack myself up!  That means there was lots of yelling!

And I customized a doormat for our front porch!
And I love it... although because of how our house sits, it has faded a little.
It needs a little black spray paint lovin'.

June:

I found a bench on Craigslist for $10 to redo for my bedroom.
It took a while to finish it because I had to order fabric and all kinds of things.
And now, it might get redone again and be moved to the loft... who knows!

I participated in a Flip Flop Swap with a few other blogs and got these bad boys to wear all summer!
Love me some flip flops!  I might have to find another one of these to do this summer again!

And I recapped the midway point of the house goals made in January.
I feel like we've made no progress... even at the 12 month mark!
Guess those just roll over into 2012...
Great...

That's a midway recap of the posts of 2011!  Wow... that's a lot!   Tomorrow I'll share July through December!

I can't believe it's almost time to start another new year again...
Wow how the time flies...
